Vira Barynova-Kuleba (born in 1938) is a renowned Ukrainian artist and teacher, the Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian Social Socialist Republic (1989), the People's Artist of Ukraine (2009). Vira studied at the Kyiv Art Institute (the studio of V. Puzyrkov). She also attended the Artistic Studios of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, supervised by S. Hryhoriev. Ms Barynova-Kuleba further interned in Berlin.
Vira Barynova-Kuleba has a unique style. It always stands out with its vivid national component, harmonious combination of the folklore and ethnographic motives and the elements of folk icons.
Vira Barynova-Kuleba was one of the first to establish herself at prestigious international auctions. Christie's and Sotheby's have auctioned her art since 1989. The painter's works can be found at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in numerous museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine, USA, Canada, Finland, Switzerland, United Kingdom and other countries.
