Borys Herus (1905–1998) was the Ukrainian painter of the older generation of the Odessa School of Painitng. In 1930–1936, he studies at the Odessa M. Grekov Art College. At the college, he was supervised by T. Fraierman and P. Volokydin. Borys Gerus cherished and continued the traditions of the Society of the Southern Russian Artists. He favoured the genre painting, landscapes and still lifes. Like the majority of the representatives of the Odessa School, Gerus' painting technique was close to impressionistic.
Borus Gerus had showcased his works at the exhibition since 1936. In 1966, he participated in an international exhibition for the first time. Borys Gerus' works are part of the collections of the National Museum «Kyiv Picture Gallery», Odessa Museum of Regional History, at a number of regional museums of Ukraine as well as in private collections. Gerus' art regularly appears at Ukrainian and international auctions.
